Glitz Gymnastics Academy's annual gala

2025 Glitz Gala - Saturday 6th & 7th December

Glitz Gala

Each year in December Glitz Gymnastics Academy holds their Annual GLITZ GALA. This day is our in-house competition, with display’s and demonstrations from our gymnasts. The Glitz Gala is more than just a competition, it’s a chance for all Glitz participants to invite family and friends to see what they have learnt throughout the year.

The Gala is an opt-in event

All our gymnasts put the skills they have learnt throughout the year together into a routine associated with their Level.  Our Kinder Gym, FreeG, and tumbling students will work on a display they can showcase on the day if they wish to attend.

Cost & Entry

Entry and payments are through our portal. An email will be sent out with an open date, usually in the first few weeks of term 4. Spots are limited and payment is due with your entry. There is a spectator door fee which is only payable on the day, usually $2 for children $5 per adult.

When and Where

Save the date information will be emailed once a date is set. Session times will be finalised 2 weeks before the day. The competition is held at the Lilydale Campus. The beam area is moved to accommodate our audience in the gym for the day. Sessions run between 2 to 3 hours. Kinder Gym, FreeG and tumbling display participants are usually only required for 1 hour.

On the Day

On arrival, your child’s name will be marked off, then head through to the seating is in the gym. Gymnasts stay with their guardians until they are asked to come and sit on the blue for ready for warm up. After warm up they will be put into 4 groups according to their level. This may not be with the kids in their class, but we do try and match up familiar faces where we can.

Rotations

There are 4 rotations – Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor. Gymnasts will head to an apparatus in their group with a coach. Each gymnast will do their routine while a Judge watches on, either scoring them or using a sticker system which is explained below. Once all gymnasts have done their routine, they will rotate onto the next apparatus.

All participants will receive a participation medal. Some levels may receive certificates, and various other awards, including trophies and medals, will be presented.

Scoring and judging explained

For this competition, all routines have a start value of 10. Marks are deducted for things like unpointed toes, bent legs or falling over. Some levels will score an individual & team placing, whereas others will only receive team placings. Level 0 and 1 will receive certificates with colour-coded stickers letting you know where their skills are at. The aim of this competition is for everyone to have fun!
